Communication with Security

Prison Vision™ is designed to allow conferences between inmate and visitor while keeping direct contact to a minimum. Keeping the inmate in the secure detention facility virtually eliminates the problems associated with traditional face-to-face contact; security issues, passing of contraband, and the associated costs of inmate travel.

For Video Visitation, a correctional facility will usually install several visitor booths in the visitors center. Inmate booths are usually installed in the day rooms in each cell pod. A switching matrix allows the connection of any inmate booth to any visitor booth.

Inmate booths are constructed of 12 gauge steel with clear lexan viewing area. Handsets are tamper proof – connected by a 1000 pound strength lanyard. The hook switch for the handset is manufactured with no visible moving parts. A handsfree version is also available or a combination handset/handsfree unit.

Visitor Booths come with either single or dual handsets configurations, or can also be configured as handsfree units.

Once a visitation is initiated by the authorized corrections personnel the individual visitation timer will begin its count down. We have found that the industry standard is 30 minutes. This countdown timer can be set to your facilities standards and easy provision is made for the authorized corrections personnel to shorten or extend the standard timer as the individual situation requires.

Any visitation can be monitored or recorded. The authorized corrections personnel can easily terminate any visitation (or all visitations) as they feel is necessitated.

Extending a visitation beyond the confines of the institution involves the Video Arraignment module of Prison Vision. The same inmate booths can be connected to a court room or defenders office. This enables the facility to carry out a conference without moving the inmate out of secure detention. Not moving the inmate lessens the chance of escape, violence against others, and allows more inmates to be processed in less time.
